One of the many things I like about the summer months is the festivals and farmers’ markets that sprout up everywhere. Hand crafted products from locally sourced ingredients sometimes from the vendors own backyards, farms and vineyards. Their stories are always unique and are just as interesting as their products. I can’t resist bringing home a jar, bottle or bag of something new and finding a way to work it into some recipes or just enjoy! Here are a few of my finds this weekend at the Adirondack Wine and Food Festival in Lake George, NY.
This is Chef William and his son, Daniel of Chef William Creations serving up some Sloppy Joes made with his sauce. I brought home a jar of his Vino Rosso Bruchetta to slather on some sliced grilled baguette. So good and I contributed to Daniel’s college fund!
I love the name of this vendor…. Goats and Gourmets, say it like it is! There was a family atmosphere at this tent….. I bought a container of their Basil Pesto Chevre. So creamy and herby that I wanted to use it simply so I stuffed some cucumbers for a cool tangy treat.
Sticking with the goat theme, there is more to festivals than food…. there is Sweet Rama’s Soap! I am sure that you know what to do with it when you get it home!
We stopped by Hidden Hollow Maple Farm and talked about the health benefits of using their natural sugar in baking and then we bought a bag of maple sugar cotton candy that didn’t make it home! Right Mom?!! Caught ya!
Festival finds are versatile and fun to work with. For my review of the entire festival visit www.saratogafoodfanatic.com. Support your local farmers!!!
